About the Authors

Victoria Zacheis Greve was a dedicated volunteer serving the Washington, DC community for more than three decades. Vicki, as she was called, worked with a variety of nonprofits as an officer and board member and served as President of the Junior League of Northern Virginia, which posthumously named its award for distinguished service in her memory. After a 20-year “maternity leave”, she managed taxes for nonprofit organizations for KPMG .

She was the first in her family to go to university, graduating with a BS from the University of Delaware and with a Masters in Taxation from George Washington University.

She was married for 36 years to her college sweetheart with whom she had two children. She passed away from ovarian cancer in March 2004, four months before the birth of her first grandchild. Her grandchildren love stories about their Grandma Greve, or “GG ”, a name she chose herself in eager anticipation.

Karen Greve Young is an American living in Toronto, Canada. She is Director of Strategic Initiatives at MaRS, helping to build the next generation of high growth companies. In April 2011, she co-authored Cancer in Canada: Framing the Crisis and Previewing the Opportunity for Donors for Charity Intelligence Canada. Her work experience includes organizational strategy, management consulting, and finance.

She has a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. She is married with two young children. She misses her mother every single day.  @KarenGreveYoung
